Things To Know About Summer Track


** 12& under ages are allowed to compete in 3 events max including field events ** 13 & up ages are allowed to compete in 4 events max including field events

Track Tips for Parents (a few tips for parents to keep in mind for the upcoming track season) + It will be hot outside + Bring a tent to setup or an umbrella to give you shade + Rain does not cancel a track meet + It will be hot outside + Bring a cooler with water, snacks, food, etc. + Some meets may potentially run longer than expected + It will be hot outside + Stay Hydrated (parents and athletes) + For the younger ages divisions, there are many heats in each event + Pay close attention to the schedule and announcer. Listen for events to be called + It will be hot outside + Keep athletes near team tent during meet + Make sure athletes are sitting and not running around between events + It will be hot outside


 

Competing

Hallmark Track Club competes in USA Track & Field (USATF). On occasion we may compete in AAU.


Youth competitions typically take place in two-year age divisions. These age divisions provide young athletes the opportunity to compete with other athletes of similar ability.


The age divisions for competition year 2023 are as follows:

Age Division (Year of Birth)

8 & Under (2015-2016)

*9 - 10 (2013-2014)

11 - 12 (2011-2012)

13 - 14 (2009-2010)

15 - 16 (2007-2008)

17 - 18 (2005-2006)


*** Per USATF Rule 300.1 (c) "Athletes must be at least seven (7) years of age on December 31 of the current year to compete at the Youth Athletics or Junior Olympic National Championships." ** Athletes who are still 18 through the final day of the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships are eligible to compete in the 17-18 age division through that meet. This extended eligibility does not apply to cross country events.
